Well here it is. It's very slow but you can post and it will stay up. Post any question or comment. I'll check it every now and then. If I see something that needs quick attention I'll get right on it. Thump

NICE BOARD! I THOUGHT I MIGHT BOOT UP TO THE OLD OPERATING SYSTEM TO SEE IF I COULD GET THE WIRELESS CARD WORKING AGAIN THERE AND COPY DOWN ALL THE SETTINGS..NOT SURE WHICH OPERATING SYSTEM WE SAVED?? HOW CAN I LOG BACK INTO THE OLD ONE IF INDEED WE DID SAVE IT? If we didn't mess it up the wireless card will still work on the 2000. We saved 2000 so if you mess anything up there it can be put back. You need to go Start-Programs-Accessories - System Tools-System Information - Hardware and get the exact name and it will show you the path to the driver. You need to make a directory on D: {File - New - Folder and name it floppys. Click it and File - New - Folder and name it PQ1. Open another window to A: and click Edit - Select All and hold down the right mouse button and drag it over the PQ1 window and drop. Choose Copy Here. Repeat with PQ2 and Ghost, thereby saving the contents of the floppy so you can reuse one of the floppys again. You can then use the Partition Magic to make a floppy of "Boot Magic". You just stick it in and it'll boot to it first and let you choose the operating system you want to boot to. It'll stay on that one until you change it back again with the floppy. Or if your Partition doesn't have it I can put "Boot Magic" on my server and you can download it. In the end, now that you have saved a disk image, you might want to strip 2000 of everything you don't need to lighten up the bloated state it's in and install XP as a upgrade. It wouldn't be as good as the one you have but it could get on the internet. Thump

OK, I'll be ready Sunday. Here's the directions for taking out the password requitement for your desktop. I guess you installed the OS on your laptop without requiring a password.
Remove the password from a user account To remove the password from a user account, follow these steps: Click Start, click Control Panel, and then double-click User Accounts. Click the user account. Click Remove my password. Type the password in the Type your current password box, and then click Remove Password.

LATER OK, if it's working without the cat 5 cable and you want to completely lose the Windows 2000 now and you think you'll be satisfied. Just let me know when you want to do it and I'll help. PS: I wrote an answer earlier but you couldn't see it I found out without signing up and logging in. Thump

Oh yeah. I've got this set up so it's plenty big. The cable came back on this morning.
